The Space Dragons : Tactica : The eleventh legion was renowned for their use of high speed, aerial assaults to destroy or capture multiple key enemy positions at once. This strategy proved most effective against the various space faring civilizations that refused to bend the knee to the Emperor’s will, but it was almost useless against the Orks, to whom shallow cuts meant nothing. The Space Dragons  were said to win whole wars without a single soldier's boots touching the ground, until of course, the final stroke came. Once every artery of a foe’s logistical capabilities had been cut, and all of their reinforcements were slain in their beds, and the foe could no longer escape, then the drop pods would land, and the leader of the warhost would personally slay the enemy warlord. Other legions, such as the Ultramarines admired the efficacy of this tactic, but criticized it for its extreme vanity.

The Space Dragons  did not live as most space marines did, they feasted, drank, and raised their successors personally. Every time a world was conquered by the legion, they took a tithe of several hundred youths, who were all then trained to become Space Marines. Because of this recruitment tactic- which was only possible because of how easily their gene seed bonded- The legion numbered easily over two hundred thousand men. However, most of their infantry were garrison troops, and only saw the front during defensive actions, or in the aid of other Legions. While their legion was easily the largest of the twenty, they could not best any of their brothers in a standing battle due to their lack of hardened line troops, or veterans. This is not so say that the Space Dragons  were weak. Their tried and true strategy was exacting and required an impressive tactical control, it just did not require infantry.

And of their Primarch, Capaneus, the Dragon King. His gestation capsule landed on the , Chapter’s fortress monastery, planet Hesperides. It was a world of many oceans, and several long archipelagos, each studded with ocean-faring civilizations ruled by violent tyrants. His pod landed in a lonely cove, inhabited only by a witch. She had been ostracized from her home because of her psychic gifts, but her Tyrant needed her as an oracle and soothsayer. No one else lived on her island, and there were no other islands for many hundreds of leagues; so no one saw the comet land there. She raised the boy in secret, hiding him from the Tyrant and his men whenever he came for counsel. She Taught the nascent Primarch the arts of song and poetry, the history of her people, numbers and philosophy, and in time, how to rule. She taught him that a king didn’t need to execute his opposers, all he needed to do was convince them to take his side. His tongue was naturally silver, and this glib strategy suited him well. At the age of five terran years, when he was fully grown, he set out from the Witch’s cove, and conquered the planet. He rallied an army of pirates when he owned nothing more than the clothes on his back, and he used them to overtake and indoctrinate every city-state on the planet. Within seventeen years his word was law, and there was not one soul that even dreamed of defying their glorious and heavenly leader.

When the Emperor came, he was greeted with open arms and a feast, as the witch had told him of his father’s fated return. He ruled his legion fairly, and set their course based on the guidance of his adopted mother, the witch from the cove. Only his children and inner circle knew about her, and her cryptic musings made sense only to him. She alone knew the fate of the Dragon King, and even that was uncertain at times.

The Greece theme is quite good.
