Description

Commission for *AzraelSkyle of the Draconis Titanicus, or the common fafnirian fire dragnon.

On the Thunder Drakes’ chapter planet, there is a persistant rumor that dragons and monstrous beasts roam the skies and wastes. There used to be hundreds if not thousands of these creatures in the past, terrorizing and threatening the human colonists. The Thunder Drakes put an end to their reign and slowly the beasts began to fade into myth and legend.

The fact of the matter is that these dragons do exist. They are suitably large, daunting creatures with large powerful wings and thick hides that are extremely resistant to fire and some ballistic weapons. Being the once top predators of the planet, the dragons are naturally dominating in personality and challenging in demeanor, especially when one would dare make threats toward them. It was only until the arrival of the Thunder Drakes that they were driven away from the people and chased into the high mountains of the polar regions. The dragons have been known to have a territorial attitude with different breeds and strains engaging each other for land and food. However they have shown mutual respect for one another, especially towards more ancient and powerful dragonkind.

Now the dragons are a central part of Thunder Drake tradition and planetary culture. In order to become a distinguished leader, one must take the Slayer’s Quest, where they alone will hunt and kill a rogue dragon that directly threatens the people. On the other hand, dragons are also given the same respect and dignity as a fellow battle-brother, especially in the theatres of war. Some have become tamed and used as mounts for particularly legendary warriors of the chapter.

The Inquisition, more specially those outside of Ordos Xenos, see such reverence toward alien monsters as nigh heretical. Many investigations have been sent to the planet to observe them, but none have given cause to directly charge the people of Fafnir or the Thunder Drakes with heresy. For the time being they allow such powerful creatures into the Imperium’s fold, still keeping a watchful eye on the chapter.

Why don't they have a successor chapter named after those?
