FrankenMech 8 - "Osprey" by Blazbaros FrankenMech 8 - "Osprey" by Blazbaros
OH NO I DIDN'T MAKE ONE YESTERDAY! D8

For *Mecha-Master's FrankenMech Contest. Rules and Jazz >>> [link] <<<

Ok so its not quite a scout mech. . . but its close =p

Ospreys stride ahead of the main force, harassing the enemy with their mortar launchers. Weaker enemies are picked off by its autoguns. If it encounters superior forces, its powerful legs and jumpjets carry it to safety.

Weapon Loadout:

Right Arm:
N/A

Torso:
Twin Autoguns
Twin Mortar Launchers

Left Arm:
N/A

Tools: CS3

Super heavy sentinel. Effective vs vehicles and infantry. >_<

Very nice design - at times, I've found medium and light designs to be rather more fun than the heavier ones.

On another note, I think you might like to know that I modified an Arctic Wolf to have the armaments I imagine this one having (2 RAC-2, 2 Rocket Launchers), and tested it against mechs in each weight class. Kind of scary that something that small can humiliate an Atlas.

They're pretty challenging I can tell you that.

Yeah, although the Osprey seems to be a pretty good choice for humiliating Assault Mechs... until you run out of ammo.

I ended up having to use it to ram a de-armed Annihilator to death because the ammo was gone. I then set up a match between three mediums and a light versus three assault mechs and a heavy, several of which on each side were taken from this contest.

The mediums won, partly because the lead Assault Mech (a modified Warlord named Apep) had really, really poor armor, and partly because one of the mediums just happened to be an Osprey.

Their real effectiveness lies in hitting them where it hurts and quickly, then getting out of range before the enemy can strike back.

My usual tactic with mechs like the Osprey is to simply circle the enemy and tear into them constantly until they go down. Doesn't work well with multiple enemies, but when I used Instant Action to enter the Osprey in the Solaris heavy match, it did well enough to tie for first.

Okay, this thing looks like a technical disaster. Balancing must cost more than a Segway...
