Manliel is a Throne, an angel that is the embodiment of authority and justice. He wields a mighty claymore, striking his enemies down with swift, decisive strokes. While his duties are mainly in Heaven, he occasionally descends to the mortal realm below if he feels the need, compelled to protect the weak and innocent. While most angels have strong abilities in healing, Manliel is focused on destruction and combat.
He came across his partner and ally Skarlet while on a crusade into the nether-regions of Hell. He confronted the vile Demon Lord Borgo'or in his fortress, slaying a countless number of foes (In reality, it was a shakedown inside Borgo'or's private residence, but he wouldn't tell you that). The Demon Lord kept many captive succubi inside his castle and while they were technically enemies of the angels, Manliel could not let that go unpunished. He attempted to release them, but was only able to take Skarlet.
Skarlet took an immediate liking to him and she stuck around as his voice of reason. Manliel would often take his duties far too seriously, smiting without thinking. Who knows, maybe there's hope for the angels and demons yet!
