Description

MK 1
The Stronbo Mk 1 was a revolution in ACE design. In contrast to its contemporary, the Caibren, the Stronbo emphasized three major design goals: affordability, durability, and modularity. The result was an ACE that was far more accessible to minor corporate clients (including mercenary bands) and, for the first time, widely available to individual buyers as well. Modular parts and a huge initial production run meant that the cost of ownership was similarly low.

In combat, the Stronbo did not specialize. Its moderate characteristics and flexible components allowed it to fulfill nearly any combat role, and aftermarket conversions — though long part of the market — exploded in popularity, inadvertently defining dozens of new technical standards that later ACEs would emulate.

The Stronbo’s design was not merely cheap and flexible, though; it had serious combat capabilities, proven by its winning record in its early deployment during the conflict on Broeikas. Early models of the Stronbo and Advent clashed there, proving equal in battle, and the Stronbo’s ease of repair gave it a decisive advantage in the overall campaign. Thus proven, it went on to become the single most widely purchased ACE in history, surpassed only by its successor in later decades.

MK 2
A solid upgrade of a solid design, the Stronbo Mk 2 was released towards the tail end of the conflict on Liberty and soon became popular with the rebels there, with over ten thousand of them shipped to the planet using pirate Gates before the end of the war. Though not a dramatic improvement over the previous mark, the Mk 2 is even tougher and even easier to repair.

The main innovation in the Stronbo Mk 2 was the widespread use of distributed manufacturing technology in its design. Many of the Mk 2’s components could be 3D printed, and even more were shared between the two marks as well as the Tiger Hunter and Defender. For its size, the Stronbo Mk 2 is perhaps the cheapest ACE on the market to build and maintain, without sacrificing any of its formidable durability and firepower.
