Robyn Woodcrest is an archmage specializing in life magic. She has a "soul fracture" that causes to her turn into a griffin unless she takes a special medication. As the medication starts to run low she'll ration it to keep her level up above a certain level for as long as she can. This level is, essentially, as long as she can go and still pass for human in public. When the medication level begins to drop, splotches of inhumanity begin to form and spread. As the level continues to drop, each splotch gets larger and more splotches form. The picture above is her in that state.
