Imagining for a moment that she was but the daughter of any other, Ariel would still be a psyker matched by few, her powers of pyro- and biomancy turning her already more-than-mortal aura into something even more indescribable by the words of normal men. Her stature, her appearance, mark her as a scion of those almost-gods, the Primarchs of the Imperium, and her taciturn, aloof nature marks her even more surely as a daughter of Caliban, a descendant of the Lion. And as the father, so the daughter: she is loath to disclose many of her movements and thoughts, even to her own family; she disappears for weeks on end, giving only the words “a quest of the mind” as reason for her travels. And for all their elevation above the petty quibbles of their mortal brethren, even the Astartes of the First Legion cannot fail to whisper in speculation as to her true purpose...
