Three typical individuals of the Alaerin species, representing their homeworld nation.
Male Alaerin (left) have highly developed psychic traits, while the typical Alaerin female (center) is capable of only a limited degree of tele-empathy. They are, as is obvious, considerably taller than the average male.
On occasion, (approximately one in fifty) a Female will fail to express the genes that trigger their advanced physical development. As a result, they retain the same approximate gender height differential as human males and females, and their psionic abilities are able to develop fully.
While the average (center) female Alaerin stands somewhere around thirty-six feet tall, there is a wide range of heights among them, as the genes that trigger their adolescent growth spurt are fairly unstable. Likewise, Alaerin as a whole tend to suffer from genetic eyesight disorders more often than humans.
From left to right the characters pictured are Akuro, a xenobiology student; Sayane, an apprentice planetary surveyor; and Zarai, an inter-species relations specialist and her oft-teased human boyfriend. Surprising to some ill-informed Humans, these are not the outfits they would wear on the job.

This is actually something I would want to see in a sci-fi show, since the universe is colossal, that means almost anything is possible, so a race of giants with what we would consider colossal spaceships would be interesting. Plus, it would be neat to see their interactions with a galaxy made up of mostly small alien species.
