U'rth: Arthropoids 1 - Pixies

Description

The most numerous of the arthropoids and one of the oldest races to emerge in U’rth, these invertebrates also possess a tremendous diversity that surpasses even that of trasgus, existing in myriads of variations with the most outlandish shapes, sizes and colours. Much more resilient than humans and gifted with all sorts of unique biological adaptations, they have largely opted to rely on these inborn skills through their daily lives, rejecting the use of magic despite having naturally notable potential.

Pixies are extremely adaptable and can be found on almost every region of U’rth, raising sprawling settlements they insistently refer to as “hives”. Though generally peaceful and easygoing, some races hold a degree of uneasiness or even disgust towards them for their alien looks, which has sparked in pixies a high sense of racial pride; they have no shame about what they are, and do not judge others for what they are either. They can be quite versatile and have a strong sense of teamwork, but no matter how intelligent they are, every pixie is heavily dominated by his or her instincts and are somewhat lacking in creativity. This is partially the reason pixies are so quick to establish alliances with others, for it leads to mutual benefit and the bonus of achieving productive goals. Contact with more “conventional” races has lead to pixies becoming fascinated with clothing, and in many societies they have become something of a status symbol, regardless of what gender said clothing was meant for.

The most famous mark of the pixie race in early U’rth history stands the sound defeat and exile inflicted upon the fairies from the old continent of Weald, aided by the diminutive feys’ own rebellious slaves, the sprites. The rivalry between both species has continued to this day, and doesn't show any signs of ending anytime soon.
